ABOUT ABOUT

The British Irish Chapter of the International Society of Constitutional Law, which will be hosting a conference on Techniques of Constitutional Regulation, scheduled for 20-21 May 2024 at the LSE.

The political backdrop to the conference is formed by the mayoral, regional, and general elections in the UK in 2024, the continuing fall out from Brexit, including ongoing territorial instability, particularly in Northern Ireland, and proposals for constitutional reform including those in the report of the Commission on the UK’s Future. The legal themes will focus on techniques and mechanisms for constitutional reform in the UK and Ireland, and for managing constitutional relations between in the UK and Ireland.  We would be particularly interested in hearing your views on potential constitutional reforms under an incoming Labour Government.

The aim of ICON-S is always to bring together the best constitutional scholars and influential thinkers from Ireland, Northern Ireland, England, Scotland, and Wales.

Chair: Jo Murkens (LSE), Aoife O’Donoghue (QUB), Aileen McHarg (Durham)
