The Future of Football: The Independent Regulator (with Dame Tracey Crouch)

By LSE Law School (other events)

ABOUT ABOUT

The Football Governance Bill was introduced in March 2024 with the intention of improving governance standards, strengthening fan rights and facilitating revenue redistribution across the football pyramid. Its central proposal: create an independent regulator with powers to oversee the professional men’s game. The idea has sparked controversy. While some claim it will secure the sustainability of English and Welsh football, others worry it will damage the competitiveness of the Premier League.

Discontinued as a result of the general election, the Bill was reintroduced by the new government which will continue the project of regulating the game. Dr Jan Zglinski will discuss its future with Dame Tracey Crouch, former MP for Chatham and Aylesford and chair of the Independent Fan-Led Review of Football Governance on which many of the legislative proposals are based.

Everybody is welcome (LSE and non-LSE). Attendance is free, but please register.

This event operates on a first come first serve basis, so please arrive early to secure you seats as a ticket does not guarantee attendance.
